Peter is an award-winning journalist and globally recognized travel authority. He is a two-time James Beard Award nominee and was named a Travel Journalist of the Year by the Society of American Travel Writers.
Peter’s essays have been nominated for a National Magazine Award for Columns & Commentary and frequently showcased in The Best American Travel Writing and The Best American Magazine Writing.
Peter is the former Executive Editor of Condé Nast Traveler, the world’s leading travel and lifestyle magazine.
He previously served as Director of Inspiration for Conrad Hotels & Resorts, as Editor-at-Large for Saveur, and as the longtime Editor-at-Large and Features Director for Travel + Leisure. Peter’s writing has also appeared in New York, Food & Wine, Details, Glamour, Men’s Journal, and The New York Times.
Along with his wife, Nilou Motamed, Peter is the co-founder of Story Collective, a consultancy specializing in brand strategy and storytelling for luxury hotels, restaurants, and travel destinations.
Peter is a graduate of Harvard University, where he was Managing Editor of the bestselling Let’s Go travel guides.
When not on the road, he lives in Brooklyn, New York. (But don’t we all?)
